Carolina's District Championship hosted by Fleet #78

The Carolina's District Championship is in the works. We will be announcing the venue and date this winter. One thing you can count on is good wind and a good time down here on the coast. This will be an event to remember.

2008 Season/New Fleet Captain

Welcome to Eastern North Carolina Flying Scot Fleet #78 new Blogspot! I am excited to announce that I will be your new Fleet Captain for the 2008 sailing season. I am looking forward to your support in helping me to build Flying Scot Fleet #78 back to a strong active racing group of individuals who enjoy the magic of sailing and the thrill of competition. As we enter into winter and dream about next year's sailing season here are my closing thoughts...What a great season for Dick Schultz/Crew, Brent Creelman/Crew, and Team Brake. Dick and Team Brake did a great bit of traveling this year. It was great to see that Dick Schulz, long time Flying Scot legend, was still sailing around the Carolina's District and still "sticking it to" the young wipper snappers. Dick and crew were very successfull this Flying Scot season placing in the top 5 in several Carolina District Series Regattas (The Helmhold Series). The Helmhold Series comprises of one regatta hosted by every Flying Scot Fleet in the Carolinas District. Fleet #78 hosted this years Hoop Pole Reggatta which was won by Team Brake with Brent Creelman and crew Mark in a close second. Brent Creelman is an up and coming Flying Scot sailor from Beaufort, NC. Team Brake were the overall winners of the Helmhold Series in 2006 and look to defend their title in 2007. Dick Schultz has won the Helmhold 9 times! Go Dick! I am gunning for you buddy! A great year for a small but powerful Flyining Scot Fleet #78.
